M.Tech (Power System)

The department of Electrical Engineering also offers M.Tech. Programme in Power System Engineering (PSE).

The curriculum has been designed keeping in view the present scenario of industry needs and research areas. Recent advancements in technology have enlarged the scope of Power System Engineering. In PSE, Generation, Transmission and Distribution systems are studied in an analytical, numerical and experimentally innovative environment. This course includes an overview of Power Systems Protection, Numerical Relays, Integrated Protection, Control & Monitoring, Intelligent Electronic Devices in system protection, Software Architecture and performance characteristics of numerical relays, Wide Area Protection, Video Sessions & Field Visits, Solar energy electric conversion systems and advanced topics in micro processors and micro controllers which are very much needed for today's power system engineers. Through Electrical Power System Engineering programme students are educated in the process of reforms in power sector through Deregulation and Restructuring.
